Dear PMAPer,
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Executive Order No. 117, which aims to streamline the accreditation process for donee institutions and strengthen support for social welfare and development organizations.
Under the Executive Order, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is now designated as the sole accrediting authority for Social Welfare and Development Agencies (SWDAs). This amends Executive Order No. 720 (s. 2008), which previously involved the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) in the accreditation process.
The issuance seeks to simplify procedures, reduce administrative duplication, and improve the overall efficiency of accreditation for organizations engaged in social welfare and development work.
