CIRCULAR NO. :2026 – 072
TO   :PMAP MEMBERS
DATE   :30 October 2026
SUBJECT   :Honoring the Leadership and Service of Executive Director Rene Gener and Ensuring a Meaningful Leadership Transition

Dear PMAP Members, Past Presidents, Professional Staff and Partners,

As we celebrate 70 years of advancing the people management profession in the Philippines, we also pause to recognize a significant milestone in the life of our Association.

It is with deep gratitude and appreciation that we announce the retirement of Mr. Rene Gener as Executive Director of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), effective December 31, 2026. To ensure a smooth and orderly transition of responsibilities, his engagement with PMAP will be extended until January 31, 2027 to complete the turnover of key accountabilities and support leadership continuity.

Rene has been an important part of PMAP’s journey, providing dedicated leadership, institutional knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the Association and the HR community we serve. His years of service have contributed to strengthening PMAP’s foundation, sustaining its programs, and supporting the many leaders and volunteers who have helped shape the organization.

On behalf of the PMAP Board of Trustees, our members, and the broader HR community, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Rene for his invaluable contributions, leadership, and dedicated service. His commitment to PMAP will always be remembered and valued.

As we prepare for this important leadership transition, we remain committed to ensuring that PMAP continues to operate with stability, professionalism, transparency, and a clear sense of purpose.

To guide this process, we intend to undertake the following initiatives, subject to the approval and guidance of the PMAP Board of Trustees 2026:

Establishment of an Independent Executive Director Search and Selection Body. We propose the formation of an independent body composed of respected and experienced HR leaders who will oversee a transparent, objective, and merit-based selection process for the next PMAP Executive Director. This will help ensure that the next leader possesses the strategic capability, leadership qualities, and commitment necessary to advance PMAP’s mission and long-term sustainability. The final appointment shall remain subject to the established governance and approval processes of the Association.

Structured Leadership Transition and Handover. We will facilitate an orderly and comprehensive turnover of the Executive Director’s responsibilities, including key operational functions, institutional records, financial and administrative accountabilities, ongoing programs, stakeholder relationships, and strategic priorities. This process will safeguard institutional continuity and ensure that PMAP’s services and commitments to its members remain uninterrupted.

Strengthening Organizational Continuity and Future Readiness. This transition also presents an opportunity to further strengthen PMAP’s governance, operational excellence, organizational capabilities, and member experience, ensuring that the Association remains responsive to the evolving needs of the people management profession.

Beyond this leadership transition, I wish to emphasize that PMAP’s strength has always been rooted not in any single individual, but in the collective commitment of its members, leaders, volunteers, chapters, and partners.

As we look toward the next chapter of our Association, I encourage everyone to renew our commitment to PMAP to remain actively engaged, support its programs and initiatives, contribute our expertise, and work together in shaping the future of people management in the Philippines.

Our 70-year legacy is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we are united by a common purpose. The years ahead call for even greater collaboration, stronger leadership, and a shared responsibility to ensure that PMAP continues to be a relevant, progressive, and influential voice for the HR profession.

To our Executive Director Rene, thank you for the years you have devoted to PMAP. We sincerely wish you good health, happiness, fulfillment, and meaningful new experiences as you enjoy your well-deserved retirement from the Association. May this next chapter bring you more time for family, personal passions, and the things that matter most.

As we honor Rene’s contributions, let us also move forward with gratitude for our past, confidence in our future, and renewed commitment to the Association we proudly call our own.

Leadership may transition, but our purpose endures. Together, we will continue to build a stronger PMAP for generations to come.

With gratitude and warm regards,

ENGELBERT “GILBERT” T. CAMASURA, FPM, MBA
