Overview:

 

This two-day workshop is designed to help managers, HR professionals, and organizational leaders improve their performance management and appraisal processes. Participants will learn how to set clear performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, and conduct fair and effective appraisals. Through a combination of lectures, interactive sessions, and practical exercises, attendees will develop the skills necessary to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Current trends and research in performance management

 

2. Setting Performance Goals

  • Principles of setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals
  • Aligning individual goals with organizational objectives
  • Collaborative goal-setting with employees

 

3. Performance Planning

  • Developing performance plans and expectations
  • Role of job descriptions and competency frameworks
  • Communicating performance expectations effectively

 

4. Monitoring and Measuring Performance

  • Tools and techniques for tracking performance
  • Using key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
  • Regular performance reviews and check-ins

 

5. Providing Ongoing Feedback

  • Importance of continuous feedback
  • Techniques for providing constructive and timely feedback
  • Encouraging self-assessment and reflection

 

6. Hands-On Exercise: Setting Goals and Providing Feedback

Day 2: Conducting Effective Performance Appraisals

2. Preparing for the Appraisal

  • Gathering and organizing performance data
  • Preparing appraisal documentation
  • Setting the stage for a productive appraisal meeting

 

3. Conducting the Appraisal Meeting

  • Structuring the appraisal discussion
  • Techniques for effective communication and active listening
  • Addressing performance issues and setting improvement plans

 

4. Managing Difficult Conversations

  • Strategies for handling difficult or emotional conversations
  • Dealing with resistance and defensiveness
  • Turning negative feedback into a positive action plan

 

5. Follow-Up and Continuous Improvement

  • Creating development plans and follow-up actions
  • Using appraisals to inform training and development
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning
