Overview

In the dynamic environment of a workplace, conflicts are inevitable, and effective negotiation is crucial for achieving positive outcomes. Therefore, training in both conflict management and workplace negotiation is vital for fostering a healthy, productive, and collaborative organizational culture.

  • Problem-Solving: Identifying interests (beyond positions), brainstorming solutions, decision-making.

IV. Negotiation

  • What is Negotiation? 
  • Definition
  • Types (distributive, integrative)
  • Importance
  • When to Negotiate?
  • Key Principles:
    • Preparation: Interests, Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement (BATNA), reservation/target points.
    • Rapport Building: Trust and relationships.
    • Value Creation & Claiming: Expanding and dividing the pie.
    • Difficult Tactics: Recognizing and responding.
  • Negotiation Process: Stages (preparation to closing).
